What is required to become a MapInfo Certified Professional?
To achieve certification you must have:
1.Completed the MapInfo Professional Level I Course
2. Completed the MapInfo Professional Level II (Map Creation & Data Management & Geographic Analysis) Courses
3. Gained practical experience in the application of MapInfo Professional
4. Passed a four-hour hands-on exam supervised by PBBI
How much investment does it require?
1. The MapInfo Level I Course takes two days and costs $1,430 per person. You may have already completed this step.
2. The MapInfo Professional Level II (Map Creation & Geographic Analysis) Courses also takes two days per course and costs $1,430 per course, per person.
3. You will most likely gain practical experience in the application of MapInfo Professional in your day-to-day job, so there is no further investment required at this point. However, the more experience you can gain the easier the exam will be.
4. The hands-on exam takes four hours and is supervised by PBBI at a PBBI office. The exam has a once-only fee of $550 (ex GST). If you don't pass the exam, you can re-sit the test later in the year at no extra charge.
The exam comprehensively covers MapInfo Professional concepts, functions and usage, with particular emphasis on data manipulation, information portrayal such as thematic mapping, usage of SQL, usage of layouts and object manipulation.
Upon completion you will receive a printed certificate and be eligible to use the "MapInfo Certified Professional (MapInfo Professional)" [MICP (MI Pro)] title.
